Bowls

The series of bowls I’ve made during the late 80’s was born from the need to combine ceramics with other materials. The bowls were hung in carriers of perspex (a new material in those days), glass or metal through which they seem to float. The rigid base of a square and a half circle was inlaid with coils to create a lively ridge pattern.

The bowls which were fired in a raku are oven were smothered in grass or sawdust to obtain a specific print and light-dark effect.

At the time most of these bowls were sold by Gallery PuntGaaf in Groningen and Gallery Terra in Delft. Some pieces are still available in stock.
